Do you really want to keep going?

My washing machine had a bit of a malfunction the other day….   …I had just come home after a two weeks overseas with a bundle of washing to do.  I popped the first load of colours in and she happily washed, rinsed, spun — completing her duties willingly.  It was during the second load of washing — the whites that she started sounding her alarm at me in protest.  What is your problem I thought to myself (because of course I would not talk out loud to a washing machine would I?!)   I turned her off, on, jiggled

When it doesn’t make sense sometimes you have to just do it

I am learning to a greater degree than ever before that the little thoughts or details that flutter through my mind and may seem insignificant to me are often Holy Spirit nudges.  I find it so easy to wave away what seems like just silly thoughts only to then discover indeed they are the voice of God. As a result of recent lessons in missing what He was saying only to discover “oh that was actually Him talking to me then” I am now trying to be far more open to listen in for the nudges rather than working hard

3 Scriptures To Inspire & Encourage You

I am praying that this week for you, for me — that we will be greatly encouraged by the Word of God as we take some time to meditate on it. My prayer is we will be hungry to spend time with God’s Presence and His Word.  And in doing so, we will find this blesses our life more than ever before.   Last week I shared about a period of ‘blah-ness’ in my life which left me lonely, low and feeling too busy.  I shared how I discovered a factor contributing was my lack of intimate relationship with God

What If I Said It Really Doesn’t Need To Be Like This?

I felt lonely, low and far too busy.  It was not my best week, one of those weeks where you go through the motions but your heart is not anywhere near the joy unspeakable we sing about on Sundays!  My heart if I stopped long enough was trying to tell me a few Mondays back I was not set up for a great day, week or month ahead. Something wasn’t right and it had been like this for a while. There wasn’t anything major wrong but I just wasn’t on my A game, wasn’t really wanting to break out into

What The Christchurch Earthquake Changed Within Me

What started out as a lovely Christchurch day in February 2011 was suddenly and violently interrupted with a vengeance by a major earthquake that not only impacted the people of this beautiful city but anyone who was there on that shocking day.  For many (including me) it could not help but renew our perspective and motivation towards our life. But before I share more I need to back track a bit….come with me…. ….tucked away in my wardrobe in 2009, 2010 and into 2011 were some running shoes gathering dust. You see, I loved the thought of running but constancy and me

What My Beetroots Taught Me

Hi Friend,   I AM SO EXCITED!   BIG NEWS!   STOP THE PRESS! I have just harvested a crop of beetroots….     ……I know that may sound like I am some sort of aspiring farmers market grower but uh NO!  In fact it was only about 20 beetroots over a period of a week.  Hardly considered a large crop. But neither the less I am very EXCITED about my beetroots.  You see, I have never grown beetroots before and well, truth be known, I am a step below a beginner in the veggie growing department. To have a harvest

5 Questions To Ask When Defining Our Life Purpose

I can still remember the sense of passion I felt as I stepped into my new part time role on staff at my small church to oversee the youth ministry.  I was excited, I was called and purpose filled!  It never entered my head that I would not be doing this for the rest of my life.  Encouraging youth and building into their lives — yep that was surely my purpose FOREVER!   It’s funny how time reveals more to us than we see at the start.   It’s funny how easily we narrow what God wants to do in

Do We All Really Have A Unique Purpose In Life?

Hi Friend,   I was 21 years old when I first heard someone tell me that I had a unique purpose – a calling so to speak. There were 500 of us that summers day. A range of ages, cultures and socio-economical backgrounds. Every week we came packed into that church hall to listen into what the Holy Spirit wanted to tell us through the word. There were university students like myself, newly marrieds, couples with children/teenagers and older people – all who called this our local church.  We were a mixed bunch.  A group who loved God, tried our
